Whisper

Whisper

I’ve let the idea of solitude linger

Luscious on my tongue

Silent in the seriousness

Of teaching and responding

To all their work today.

I’ve watched solitude hide

Gentle in my eyes

Reminding me to claim time

Enough for me, alone

 before day draws deep sleep.

I’ve waited for this moment

My whole life resting

Beneath the skin of sky

Waiting for this open-flow

Of soft pressed keys, my sound.

some capitulation,
even
hope of going back.

Beneath silences
a grasp at last
and calmness.

grows thinner still

 we make our way

despite the chill

Golden Season

Yellow dust

dispersed abundance

 peppering the day

 disquieting assurance

 now

of  cooling shade

falling through distant summers

Mountain

rich granite

we climb and climb

further than we imagined

into blue sky and rising sun

trudging up and up

the winding trail

stone beneath

sustaining

An Easter morning

‘Hallelujahs’ flowing down

wash over the ledge we’ve gained

yet far below the summit

still we join the throng

some breath left

for song
